基于FreeBSD的桌面发行版PC-BSD发布了8.1-Beta1版本。相比8.0版本，主要更新如下： 底层更新至FreeBSD 8.1-PreRelease， KDE更新至4.4.4版本 安装程序后端的BUG修正 支持专用的磁盘GPT分区 ZFS文件系统增强 桌面程序BUG修正 PC-BSD是基于FreeBSD的桌面操作系统，以KDE为默认桌面环境。除去支持FreeBSD原有的ports系统之外，还自创了pbi软件包格 式，该格式能够提供精灵指引用户轻松安装应用程序。
